Haidar's Blog from Iraq

Well done to all our dedicated volunteers who braved the cold and at times wet weather as well as the rushing masses in the London Underground stations on Saturday.  A special thank you to Mehdi for organising this unforgettable event.   It was my first tube collection and I must say it was hard work but throughly enjoyable – I look forward to doing it again.

We collected over £720 yesterday, so well done everyone.  Ali Walji and Grainne Memery were the highest collectors with nearly £70 each and our most lucrative station was King’s Cross.  I met lots of very interesting people  – one was a soldier in the photo, recently back from Afghanistan who emptied his change into our buckets.  Another was an armed policeman at the station who was also very generous and gave us all his change.
